The Press Council in B&H has realized today, June 9 2010, in Sarajevo, the second out of 6 foreseen similar seminars in year 2010 – „Political responsibility and media self-regulation in pre-election period“, for representatives of political parties and governmental institutions in B&H.

Reporting of B&H print media in this period has caused irrecoverable damage to minor victim of sexual exploitation, where instead of victim oriented approach, the focus of reporting was moved to daily policy, which additionally increased her already tragic situation. This is especially important in cases of open investigation on certain criminal acts where children are involved as victims or witness.

The Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in co-operation with the OHR of Brcko District, is organising the Open dialogue with journalists, citizens and politicians from Brcko District on freedom of media reporting, right of citizens on truth and complaints procedure of the Press Council in B&H on incorrect media reporting in pre-election and election period. This meeting will be held on 12th of February 2010 in premises of the OHR in Brcko District.

The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina seriously condemns repeated death threats to Editor and Journalist of FTV, Mr Bakir Hadziomerovic. Such direct threats and endangering of security for journalist and his family present the most severe and continuous attempts of certain groups and individuals to prevent journalistic activities in field of investigative journalism on corruption, crime and political affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
