National Endowment for Democracy NED continues supporting the Press Council in B&H in the next year as well, in amount of 37.000 USD

The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina has successfully realized Seminar „Media and Judiciary“ on 27th and 28th of May 2010, for representatives of judiciary and media from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

GOVERNMENT OF FR GERMANY SUPPORTS SELF-REGULATION OF PRINT MEDIA IN B&H
Support to the Press Council in B&H in amount of 46.825 EURO

Representatives of the Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina participated at the regional meeting on media responsibility in South East Europe that took place on 22-23rd of February 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey, in organization of the UNESCO.

The Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in co-operation with the OHR of Brcko District, has organized the Open dialogue with journalists, citizens and politicians from Brcko District on freedom of media reporting, right of citizens on truth and complaints procedure of the Press Council in B&H on incorrect media reporting in pre-election and election period

The Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina held fourth Winter School for students of journalism for 38 students from four faculties of journalism from Mostar, Tuzla, Sarajevo and Banja Luka. The School of Journalism was held in Sarajevo, hotel „Europa“, in period from 14th till 19th of December 2009

The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina has realized two days lasting Seminar for students of law faculties in B&H on practical application of the Defamation Laws in B&H and media legislation, in Sarajevo on 8-9th of December 2009

The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina held Seminar on media literacy and ethics for high school professors and students, being responsible for school newspapers. The Seminar took place in Sarajevo on 12th and 13th of November 2009.

Fourth Seminar for Judges of the First Instance Courts in B&H was held from 28th till 30th of October 2009 in Neum. The objective of this Seminar was improvement of practical application of the Law on Protection Against Defamation in B&H, throug dialogue between journalists and judges and analysis of media and court positive and negative experiences and dilemmas in terms of defamation lawsuits. At the end of the Seminar, judges have unanimously suggested to request from the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of B&H inclusion of the Press Council's educational program in compulsory agenda for judges and prosecutors in B&H.

Seminar „Ethics of Reporting on Environmental Protection and Ecology“ for students of journalism from Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka and Tuzla was held on 28th and 29th of May 2009 in Sarajevo.

Third Seminar for judges of the first instance courts in B&H on topic „Law on Protection against Defamation – court and media theory and practice“ was held in Neum in period from 21st till 23rd May 2009

The Regional Conference “Self-regulation and Freedom of Media in Countries of Western Balkans and Southeast Europe” , held in Sarajevo on 23rd and 24th of January 2009, gathered at one place journalists and leaders of the Press Councils and Journalists’ Associations from the Region and Europe

Neum, 3-7.12.2008: The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina, with support of the German Embassy in B&H, held the Winter Media School for students of journalism from B&H

Seminar for 40 judges of the first instance courts in B&H – “Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights in the context of application of the Law on Protection against Defamation in B&H” was held in Sarajevo on 20th and 21st of November 2008

Members of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils in Europe appraised work of the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina as extremely important for development of the media self-regulation in the Region.

The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in co-operation with German foundations Konrad Adenauer, Hanrich Böll and DVV International, as well as OSCE Mission to B&H and Municipality Ilidza, held first Summer School of Journalism for 40 students from four BH faculties from Mostar, Sarajevo, Tuzla and Banja Luka

The Agreement on financial support of the German Embassy in B&H to the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina in amount of 46.557 EURO was signed today, on 6th of August 2008, in premises of the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Agreement was signed by H.E. Ambassador Joachim Schmidt, on behalf of the German Embassy, and Ms Ljiljana Zurovac, Executive Director of the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina

The fourth session of the Press Council's Board of Directors was held yesterday, on 4th March 2008, in Sarajevo

The Conference "Application of the Law on Protection against Defamation in B&H - court practice, media freedoms, responsible journalism", was held on 5th and 6th July 2007 in hotel "Stella", Neum

Establishing Assembly of the state level Press Council was held today, 13th December 2006, in Sarajevo. Establishers of this Press Council are BiH Newspaper Publishers and Journalists' Associations in BiH.

The Press Council of BiH has discussed proposed annex to the Press Code regarding treatment of gender sensitive issues in print media, on regular session held on 24th of August 2006.

The Press Council of BiH and Association “BH Journalists”, in co-operation with journalistic associations in BiH, Association Q, Gender Centre of the RS, Agency for Gender Equality in BiH and Gender Centre of the FBiH, have discussed and defined Recommendations for Media on Treating Gender Issues in regular journalistic reporting and public informing, in period July-August 2006.
